Revlon Moisture Stain in Parisian Passion (€10.99) I’ve got exams coming soon and should be studying so, of course, I’ve been on a buying spree. One of the most brilliant things about Boots is their perpetual 3×2 in one thing or another. Lately, they’ve had it all across their beauty section so at one point I was getting some stuff and needed my third item and randomly picked this up. I’ve wanted to try these for a bit but never have because the displays are usually extremely icky, picked over and generally disgusting.
Anyway, these were clean and pristine for once so I decided to try one. Instead of being patriotic and going for Barcelona Nights, I went for the more appropriate (to my style) Parisian Passion. It’s more of a dark berry with a bit of plum that looks wonderful on. I don’t really own many glossy-finish products, especially in this sort of shade, which made it interesting.
Revlon say this about the Stains:
• Drenches lips in glossy wet color
• Ultra-light creamy lipstain with Vitamin E and Aloe
• 88% of women felt lips were instantly moisturized without stickiness
And while I think the choice of words for this product are a bit questionable (moisture stain, drenches lips…) I tend to agree with the descriptions. The formula is highly glossy and wet but it has a sort of substance to it, so you have to work it on the lips for an even, full coverage. What I mean with this is that it reminds me a little bit of a vinyl substance – you need to work it on to spread it, otherwise it just sits there unevenly. I can’t detect a scent.
I’ve not worn this over lipstick, nor would I. It works best in thin, even layers. I also found this to be moisturising. The best part of this is the stain that this leaves behind. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with a gloss and this one is quite good, decent lasting power and all, but it leaves a very nice stain behind for a few hours.
It’s not a world-changing product by any means but it’s a nice addition to my collection in a cute colour. The applicator is triangular shaped and works well to apply and spread colour. I wish I’d picked up one of the neutrals to see if they also stain but I’m not sure I like this one enough to shell out another 11€ for another.
